A Look at Why Golf is a Mental Game

Golf is a game of excitement and passion, people play the game for two reasons, either competition or relaxation. But even if you are playing for relaxation reasons you cannot stop the mind taking over and being competitive. Did you know that most people ruin their game because of a competitive mindset? We will therefore now take a look and some aspects that may be affected and the reasons for it.

Golf is a game that is ultimately played better when a person is relaxed. If you start doubting yourself or thinking to yourself that you are going to lose then that is when you start to lose all inability and control over every strike you make.

First off your basic swing can even become infected, the way in which this works is because if your mind is building up tension, then most off your energy will be send to your brain rather than your arms and body parts and you will become powerless to hit the ball correctly. This is why people that play golf without any mental interruptions, like Tiger Woods always perform 100% and never make any mistakes, these types of people have had years of training.

You have to practice techniques that will ultimately make you aware of your tension. You can use forms of yoga and other breathing techniques to help eliminate this problem.

If a player is underachieving they usually look at blaming it on the equipment they are using. This may be the case if you have got the worst pieces, but on most occasions the equipment is not to blame. As mentioned above you need to ask yourself how you are feeling before you strike the ball. You can go out and injury lawyers 4 you the most expensive tees and golf clubs, yet if you have a burden over your shoulders you will no doubt car charity end up suffering.

To finalise things, I would say that the game of golf and your personal performance, is 70% mentally related and 30% physical. You could be the best physical golfer in the world but with the incorrect mindset, you are doomed for failure.

Although the above information is mainly targeted at beginners of the game, the same still applies for people that have been playing for years, as if you have had a sudden detrimental effect in your private life this will undoubtedly affect in your overall golf game.
